POSTILION is a software package designed to effectively handle the transaction delivery and authorisation requirements of every aspect of the ATM and POINT-OF-SALE (POS) arena. It is widely used in various countries around the world. Postilion makes use of the ISO 8583 protocol for message handling, the most widely used EFT protocol. This variant of ISO 8583 defines an ideal message format that can accommodate the EFT processing needs of acquirers, processors, networks and issuers. POSTILION REALTIME uses this protocol as the basis for its internal operation and for communication with interfaces.

POSTILION OFFICE is the back-office system of the core product, and the data stored on Postilion Realtime is replicated to Postilion Office on a regular basis, providing the facility to extract data for query and analysis purposes without accessing the on-line system unnecessarily. Data can be extracted with ease and simplicity for reporting purposes or exported to other applications such as MS Excel or any other database.

Direct Transact already has the infrastructure and electronic links in place to connect to card associations such as MasterCard and Visa through a Visa VEAS that connects into Visanet and a MasterCard MIP.
