Hennie holds a B.Com (Cum Laude) (1985-1987), a B.Com Honours (Cum Laude) (1988) and an M.Com (Cum Laude) (1990) from the University of Pretoria. Hennie's working career began as a lecturer at the University of Pretoria from 1987 to 1988. During this period he received numerous awards as well as bursaries to further his studies abroad.
